Re: Exciting Opportunities in Year 5

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are excited to announce that we have two exciting opportunities for Year 5.  Firstly, we have been invited to join Weavers Academy and 5 other primary schools in an exciting performance of “The Tales of Jason and the Golden Fleece” at the Castle Theatre on Wednesday 18th June and secondly, we have arranged for a trip to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museum on the 1st July.

First Event Details: The Tales of Jason and the Golden Fleece

Day and Date: Wednesday 18th June

The performance will be the culmination of a musical collaboration between Year 5 students across six primary school and performers from Weavers Secondary School. Alongside the actual performances, the children will get to learn a variety of different songs and take part in a Musical workshop provided by Weavers.  The songs will also form the basis of our music lessons in school.

On the actual day, children will be transported to the Castle Theatre by Weavers school at approximately 1pm and take part in a further musical workshop and a complete dress rehearsal before finishing with a performance to parents at the Castle Theatre at 6pm.  Any child taking part will need collecting from the theatre after the performance has finished.  The performance is anticipated to last 1 hour so collection from the theatre will be at 7pm.  The exact location of collection will be confirmed closer to the event.  All children will need to wear school uniform.

We are very lucky that the event is being provided by Weavers and the Castle Theatre at no cost to any child taking part.  There will be a small ticket price for any parent who wishes to attend the final performance at the Castle Theatre.  We would love for as many of our Year 5 pupils as possible to take part but understand that as it is after the end of the school day there may be some who are unable to make it.  As we will need to confirm numbers with Weavers and the Castle Theatre, we would be grateful if you could be please complete the attached form, confirming whether your child is able to take part in this exciting event.

If your child is unable to attend this event, then they will be accommodated within school for the remainder of the day on the Wednesday and then collected at the end of the school day as per usual.

Lunch arrangements

Children will leave school after lunchtime and therefore will be able to have a normal lunch in school.  Since we are not due to finish until approximately 7pm, the children will need an additional lunch to eat between the completion of the final dress rehearsal and performance at 6pm.

Lunches should be in a disposable bag and should not contain nuts nor fizzy drinks.

Good morning,

Year 5 are working super hard to learn all of our songs ready for our performance at the Castle Theatre in Tales of Jason and the Golden Fleece. We are pleased to confirm that the tickets are now on sale via The Castle Theatre website: https://www.parkwoodtheatres.co.uk/castle-theatre/whats-on/the-tales-of-jason-and-the-golden-fleece.
