Spring term

We are pleased that, finally, the darker days seem to be coming to an end and we are starting to see some much-needed sunshine and a respite from the rain! Despite the gloomy weather we have had, as ever, our Earls Barton Primary children have brought the sunshine and enthusiasm into school to brighten all of our days!

History in Action

Anglo 1

Our Year Four children began their Anglo-Saxon history topic for this term with a fantastic, immersive day with a visiting history expert to lead them through “A Day in the Life of an Anglo-Saxon.” The children dressed up in replica Anglo-Saxon outfits and enjoyed learning about the lives of children in the past. A highlight for many of today’s children was handling reproduction weapons and safely recreating a mini battle!

Superheroes at EBPS! EY superhero

Our Reception children enjoyed their “wow” day to launch their “People Who Help Us” topic by dressing up as superheroes and completing lots of superhero challenges, including an obstacle course and solving lots of puzzles from the clues. For the rest of the term, children have learnt about real-life superheroes who help us every day: doctors, nurses, dentists, vets, police officers, etc.

Football success

Football team

Our Year 5 and 6 football team qualified last term through to the final round of the North Northamptonshire schools’ “Pokémon” football tournament and competed against other top teams locally. They played their matches at Redwell leisure centre and got all the way through to the final match. Below is an extract from their tournament report written by the children:

“We were really excited. We were in the finals! We were playing the team that beat us in the first game so we knew we had to play well. They scored early into the game but then Ethan scored to equalize and had us on a level footing! We were doing amazingly well and played some brilliant football as a team, despite this, they scored in the last few seconds taking the score to 2-1. We had come second out of 168 schools in North Northamptonshire. Special thanks to Coach Ryan for coaching us through all of the rounds.”

Well done to the entire team Ethan, Josh, Angus, Henry, Betsy, Odette, Lola, Brandon-Lee and Jude K-S.

Hatton Academies Trust

We are enjoying the many benefits of being part of a strong, local academy trust. For staff, the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in other schools and share best practice has been brilliant. For leaders, we are being given the challenge and support we need to ensure every aspect of our school is truly excellent. For children, there are advantages through shared experiences in music and sport (as well as the use of the HAT minibus to attend more trips and events!)
