Head's Update December 2025

Cross-Country finals…
Earls Barton Primary School recently celebrated a remarkable achievement at the cross-country tournament held at Croyland Park, Wellingborough. We took 47 enthusiastic children from the KS2 age range to compete, and their hard work and determination paid off as we secured a very comfortable first place overall among all the “large” participating schools. This victory is a testament to our continued success in recent years, showcasing the dedication and talent of our young athletes. We retain the trophy in our cabinet now having won four out of the five previous years’ competitions. Some of our runners made it through to the county finals at Abington park in the new year and we wish them well.
New EYFS outdoor area
We are delighted that as well as our five-classroom extension block being complete, we now have a finished and beautiful new outdoor learning area for our Reception children. Resplendent with a rainbow shelter for outdoor play whatever the weather, we also have a mud-kitchen, café, stage, sandpit, water area and climbing equipment! Our youngest children have loved their first week using the new space. Special thanks to the local businesses who sponsored various aspects of this amazing new space.

Hatton Academies Trust (HAT)
We are seeing many benefits of our school now being a part of a strong, local Academy Trust. The entire school staff is enjoying the opportunities for professional collaboration, support, challenge and sharing best practice with other HAT schools locally. Our children and families may not have noticed any differences, but the behind the scenes support of the Trust has been greatly appreciated and welcomed.
Reception September 2026 spaces
A reminder that the deadline to apply for a Reception place for children starting school September 2026 is 15th January 2026. We have one final school presentation and tour available on Monday 12th January; please see our website and book on via Eventbrite.
Christmas
We are getting into the Christmas spirit at school! Our Reception children are busy rehearsing a “A Wriggly nativity” which we are very much looking forward to seeing performed on the stage! Special thanks to our wonderful PTA who have purchased brand new nativity costumes for the school to keep and use for many years to come. Other special Christmas events include our senior choir’s “Made in Earls Barton” three performances of “Cold hands, Warm heart”; a 40-strong choir singing at the luncheon club; our annual “Carols on the Playground”; an in-school pantomime performance (again, fully funded by our fabulous PTA); 300 children for Christmas lunch; 17 class Christmas parties; one special gigantic Christmas reading den; hopefully a visit from Santa… and a partridge in a pear tree!
